Bronze for fighting Irish
Irish boxer Darren Sutherland has been beaten by James Degale in their middleweight semi final bout this morning but still comes home with a bronze medal. Also in boxing Belfast's Paddy Barnes steps between the ropes at 12pm while Ken Egan, whose mother hails from Ballycallan, will face Tony Jeffries at 2pm.
Showjumping
Irish showjumper Denis Lynch has protested his innocence as his hopes of winning an Olypmic medal were crushed last night. Lynch's horse tested positive to a banned substance.
In GAA news
The Kilkenny under 21 team has been announced for the All Ireland Semi Final match against Galway. The match takes place in Thurles on Saturday @ 2.30pm. A bus will depart from Patricks Street on Saturday. See Kilkenny gaa.ie for more details.
