Lastest updates have confirmed that there are 22 survivors from Wednesday's Spanair disaster. The death toll from flight JK 5022 has now been confirmed at one hundred and fifty three people.
Irish fear more job losses
A new survey has reportedly found that almost one-third of Irish workers fear they could lose their jobs due to the economic downturn. This comes after the ERSI announced that Ireland is entering a recession in June.
Abuse allegations in Nursing Homes
Abuse allegations have been reported in relation to poor care at a number of nursing homes throughout Ireland. The complaints were made by family member over the past three years to nursing homes in Donegal, Cork and Kerry. The papers, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, show that there have been at least 50 complaints.
Heritage Week
Heritage Week is to kick off this weekend in Kilkenny. With over 1000 events taking place around the country, individuals and families across Ireland have the opportunity to get outdoors and experience their local heritage. Heritage Week will officially be opened by Mr Michael Kitt T.D.,Minister of State for the Department of the Environment, this Sunday at Kilkenny Castle. There will be a variety of events running throughout the day with stalls including Birdwatch, Irish Seed Savers and the Wildlife Trust. There will also be activities such as basket Making, stone carving and a Farmers Market.
Boil notice
Kilkenny county council have issued the following warning in relation to water usage:
Due to the recent unprecedented flooding of water sources, consumers are advised to boil water in the following locations:
Ballyragget Area, Bennettsbridge Regional Water Supply Scheme serving Bennettsbridge, Danesfort, Stoneyford, Ballyhale, Knocktopher, Kells, Dunnamaggin & Kilmaganny Areas.
The precautionary boil water notice previously issued for the Gowran, Goresbridge, Paulstown area is now lifted. Kilkenny County Council will continue to sample the water supply and consumers will be further notified as test results become available
