Performer dies
Two separate investigations are underway following the death of a female performer during rehearsals for an upcoming festival in Donegal. The 30-year-old is believed to have been part of an English performing arts group preparing- for the Bluestacks Festival. Foul play is not suspected.
Spainair crash
It has been reported that at least one hundred and fifty people have been killed after a Spanair flight crash landed after take off at Madrid Airport. The Spanair JK 5022 flight was bound for the Canary Islands, with one hundred and sixty four passengers and nine crew on board.
Car fraud
Gardaí are today warning the public to aware of an internet car-selling scam. At least one person has fallen victim to the hoax, leading Gardaí to launch an investigation. The Garda Stolen Vehicle Unit are investigating this incident in which a seller, who claims to be in Germany or another European country, advertises a car with Irish plates .
Age Action Ireland
In Local News This is Kilkenny's first year as a host town for Age Action Ireland. Philip O’Reilly has been named as the representative in the South East. The initiative was launched today in Kilkenny Castle at 3pm.
Card scamming
Kilkenny People are advised to be vigilant when using ATMs around the country due to card-fraud operation in the Galway area. Thousands of people have had their financial details stolen. All cardholders are to implement caution when using their cards at local merchant outlets.
Russian solidiers
In International news, Russian soldiers have continued to withdraw from Georgia. The Kremlin has agreed to continue Russian troop withdrawal from the majority of Georgia by Friday. The troops will relocate to Russia and others to Osseta. Reports say Russian troops and tanks are still deployed in several areas of the country, despite assertions that the withdrawal had begun.
